FIRST CLASS

When meeting a student for the first time it is important to be prepared with their basic details pertaining to their student life,, i.e grade ,age etc. as much can be known. It is also essential to keep in mind the course and level. If possible go through and arrange the sequence of activities to be done. Introducing yourself first so as to ease the student is important as well; maybe just your name and city can be good to go as we ask him/her to go ahead and and ask the same info from them. This builds relatability and eases you into a conversation. A small talk about the weather at their location can be a good idea as well.

After this we can ask them to share more about them in form of an structured formal introduction (tell my something more about yourself). Alternatively , we may keep it in form of an activity like Just a Minute (JAM) , Fill in the blanks ( can be helpful for young kids or the ones with less to no language skill) , Creative task like Self portrait maybe fun or Inteviewing each other if in a group can be useful collaborative and communication ice - breaker. There can be many more as well.
